The sounds are back again

Staying at my in-laws at the moment, had to install the game and what a nice surprise to hear sounds again
-nades have a more realistic 'click'
-I can now hear a nice shhhhhhhhhhh coming from the fumes
-and a radio fffff when messages are shouted

I was wondering how I could get all them back at home... I know a fresh install would sort this out but I can't be bothered
