Ping Goth - Camera question

My brother's 30th is coming up and he's been going on about a camera. Been looking at your S5800 and it seems like a good camera, good quality pix, 10x zoom.

Just wondering how quick it is at taking pictures. My current camera is pretty old and if want to take pictures of moving objects, like planes at an airshow, it takes so long to focus and get the picture that you often miss the subject. Could you let me know if it's suitable for that sort of photography as I think he'd like to use it for that sort of thing.

Also, how good is the image stablisation when using the zoom?

Thanks muchly

Edit: If anyone can suggest other cameras that are worth considering, I'll take your suggestions too
