BT line fault

My BT phone line went out on Tuesday 26th. Phoned BT faults and was told an engineer is scheduled to fix it on the 28th. Since the fault diagnosis system reported the problem as close to the property possibly needing access to the house I've waited in all day for the visit.
Just called the operator for the fault service, to be told that the job has been re-scheduled for next Tuesday *at the earliest* !!! Due to the volume of work resulting from the bad weather their engineers are overwhelmed.

Can't use my credit card machine or the fax. At least I have incoming calls diverted to a cellphone so it's not quite a total disaster.

And this is on a business line, that is supposed to get priority treatment. Imagine what it's like for the regular home users.
