So Prof was getting rid of some old gear.

Comprising of :

1x MOBO Gigabyte Socket A
1x Athalon 2600
1x Radeon 9800 Pro
1x Power Supply

Cost me a little for some decent RAM and its all good.


The other night I am having trouble booting, HDD seems a little flakey.

No probs i say throw another in and reinstall


Nahh... suddenly I get a message saying "recovering BIOS from HD"

OK i think it will sort it self out... nahhh decides to keep rebooting with same message.

Do some googling.. appears MOBO BIOS is Fooked corrupt or some such...B@stard!

Ok I have a spare... Throw it in start installing windows (bleeding profusely from sharp edged box wounds) windows restarts attempting to start its second leg of an install..... and nothing

Monitor goes off FFS!!!!

So here i sit ready to smash everything in sight.... ideas?


Tried a Different graphics card just in case..... No Dice.... Tried a different monitor no joy!! WTF!!!!!


Ok So swapped memory back to lower speed memory as 2nd MOBO seems to not like the new stuff. Ok lets see what happens windows is back installing and we have a picture.
