ok i have a pc here which appears to have lost its dvd rw and cd rom ive tried all the usual registry fixes including the removal of the upper and lower filters. scanned for new hardware which picks up the drives but fails to install them properly (incidentally when the new hardware is discovered instead of saying found samsung blah blah blah it instead reads what i consider to be nonsense strange lettering and numbers),now heres the strange bit, if i power down and leave the system for 10 mins then restart it as if by magic the drives reappear in all their glory only to disappear come the next restart .
any ideas would be mostly greatly appreciated
