Computerless

On Saturday last I received an AMD AM2 x6400 Black edition and Gigabyte GA-M57 SLi board from our suppliers as a good customer reward.
OK, I thought, time to play, WRONG!
Installed said hardware into main machine on Saturday, along with 4 gig Kingston RAM and two terrabytes of SATA hard drives (Samsung x500 gig) nVidia GeForce 8800GT and new xFi by creative.

Installed XP and started getting the blue screens before it had even installed.
Turned off Hard drive caching and tried again, managed to install but upon reboot blue screened.
Increased memory voltage by a factor of one. Got well into windows now, installing software and suitably impressed with pure grunt, the speed at which software installed and applications started was breathtaking. Had a couple of NTFS errors in the error logs and messed in the BIOS, installed latest drivers etc. and that seemed to do the trick. By Saturday afternoon I was fairly pleased with the rig.
Now, I have a habit of defragging the install partition just prior to making the initial image. So, set O&O defrag to work, and the whole bloody thing freezes up at about 12% Sat and waited as I know what would happen if I just killed it, but 30 minutes later it was obvious to me that it was going nowhere. Did a hard reset and my suspicions were confirmed, lost most of the Windows files.......... to say I was pi**ed would be the understatement of the year.

Anyhow, I am not one to give up, I re-installed, did a lot of goooogling and re-configured the BIOS again, and..... well to cut a long story short I have been computerless since saturday morning, and if ayone wants an AMD 6400 black edtion just check my dustbin..... yours for free!!!!!!!!
