So, there I was, trimming the edges to one of my lawns, next to the hedge that grows away from the left of my lounge window.
I heard the familiar ruffling of little feathers and couldn't resist a quick look inside. So upon parting the covering foliage and poking my face into the core of the hedge I came face to face with about thirty pairs of tiny eyes, all less than a foot from the end of my nose.
